The Great Wall of China Concert

In the fall of 2004, Allusion Studios’ founder Jim Pavett was selected to record audio for the landmark Great Wall of China Concert, held live at the Juyongguan section of the Great Wall outside Beijing. The event featured an extraordinary lineup of national and international artists including Alicia Keys, Cyndi Lauper, Boyz II Men, Doyle Bramhall II, Sylvia Tosun, Nellie McKay, and Red Poppy, performing to support The Chinese Children’s Foundation and the restoration of the Great Wall.

Jim engineered the entire concert using a multi-recorder setup with four Alesis HD24 units, capturing 24-bit, 48 kHz audio for a full 5.1 surround mix. The production was later broadcast across major U.S. music television networks including MTV, showcasing Allusion Studios’ ability to deliver pristine sound under high-profile, international conditions.
