El Misa Mexicana is an album of songs that El Mariachi Tapatio normally performs during mass at church. They wanted to have the recording of this album feel just the same as if a person was at mass experiencing the music. To accomplish this, we decided to actually record the band live at the church without an audience. This would allow us to bring the studio to them and have control over extraneous sounds like the audience coughing and such...The musicians felt right at home playing in the room they always play in and the ambiance of the recording could be captured from the room and not manufactured.
