Jim Pavett earned a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Arizona, and has worked in the audio recording business since 1984.
Jim has well-rounded his experience by working in recording studios, audio duplication companies, mastering facilities, and by being a schooled musician since childhood. This knowledge of audio properties, audio production and correct formatting is often ignored or overlooked by many recording studios, which causes problems for the client later on. Along with audio, Jim’s credits also include Director of Photography, Video Producer and Editor. The Muscle & Blood Road Song Video is a testament to his commitment to excellence in the audio and video field. On the side, Jim enjoys giving back to the audio community by producing tutorials and paneling at recording conventions. He also pursues using his “eye” as a photographer which can be seen throughout the Allusion Studios website and his portfolio.
Over the past 30+ years, Jim has built a strong business through referrals, customer loyalty, and trust. His passion for electronics keeps him constantly searching for the latest technology to be instated at Allusion Studios. His clients benefit from his enthusiasm and perfectionism by having the best tools available when they come to record. This passion has grown into a pro audio consulting/sales business by the name of Pure Wave Audio.
Jim has written for national Pro Audio Review Magazine, creates audio samples for microphone manufactures, and is a panelist for the Pot Luck Recording Convention (formerly Tape Op). One of his projects was nominated for a Grammy Award. He has also created and produced a pro audio tutorial series called The Studio Edge and has been featured in Mix Magazine as well as Pro Sound News. He has added TV personality to his credentials by regularly appearing on the CBS show, Lucky Break.
Over the years, Jim has been keeping busy as a session player, appearing on several albums with players such as Marc Storace (Krokus), Pat Travers, Les Dudek (Steve Miller), Frank Marino, Ted Nugent, Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Barry Sparks (Michael Schenker and Yngwie ), JV Collier ( Bruce Hornsby, Pointer Sisters, Motown Records), and Tony Kishman (Wishbone Ash, Beatlemania) to name a few.
Jim performed with The Billy Stokes Band supporting the album Jim produced called Muscle & Blood. This album is jammed packed with star power including Marc Storace (Krokus), Barry Sparks, Pat Travers, Les Dudek (Steve Miller), and Frank Marino. For the live band, Jim has performed with Rudy Sarzo (Ozzy, Whitesnake, Quiet Riot), Robby Lockner (Jack Russel’s Great White) and Pat Travers.
